Use this C2PA detector to read Content Credentials, the signed records that can describe how an image was created or edited. Slop or Not reads the credential, validates signatures from recognized issuers, and reports the source it recognizes, then scores the pixels with a classifier when no readable provenance resolves the file. Online checks stay away from outside AI companies.

Is a C2PA match stronger than an AI score?

Yes, but only when its signature validates, the signer is trusted or recognized, and a relevant assertion supports the claimed history. Slop or Not reports the source it recognizes from a credential; verify the full signer and assertion chain in a dedicated C2PA viewer before leaning on it. The image score remains separate and still helps when no readable provenance resolves the file.

Can C2PA metadata be missing from AI images?

Yes. Screenshots, uploads, and file conversions can remove C2PA metadata. That is why Slop or Not also checks the image itself.

Does Claude add Content Credentials to images?

Yes. Supported image files made or processed with Claude can carry a signed C2PA Content Credential. Slop or Not reads the credential and reports the source it recognizes. A credential whose recorded history points to Claude can support Claude involvement, but the reader must make that interpretation; verify the signer and assertion chain in a dedicated C2PA viewer when it matters. Pixel analysis is separate and takes over when no readable provenance or watermark resolves the file.
